Anti-Americanism in Pakistan and the Taliban Menace
Posted by KHYBER Jul 1, 2008 07:09 pm
#1 Posted by dryiabbasi....I agree with you, bunch of ignorants wants to impose their ideas on majority, its not the fight for Islam but bunch of ignorants think that girls should not go schools, people should not listen to the music,if Pakistani Army is sincere fighting terrorism then Army should go arrest or shoot leadership of Talibans who are hiding in rat holes of Pakistani Tribal areas. It's almost like a bad joke. A bus driver, a ski lift operator and a gym rat have turned the Islamic world's only nuclear-armed nation upside down. Its amazing that corrupt and rejected and failed policians like NAWAZ SHARIF ,QAZI HUSSAIN AND IMRAN KHAN are talking against operation, but where are these guys when Talibans blow themselves in suicide attacks and kill innocent people, why don't these politicians say anything when Talibans bomb and destroy girls schools? To me Talibans are just bunch of ignorant barbarians who does not have any knowlegde of our great religion Islam, they are black spot on our religion and nation.Honestly,to me this operation is just a show off,we know that Talibans are product of CIA AND ISI during soviet invasion of AFGHANISTAN,BUT ISI used these millitants for its benefits too in INDIA AND KASHMIR,if Govt of Pakistan and MILITARY is sincere to to fight terrorism then they should attack and shoot their leaders, brain washed Talibans are unaware of their leaders motives, unfortunatle there are over 40 million people in Pakistan who does not have even basic education, and those over 40 million people either dance with the tone of ignorant mullahs or corrupt politicians.

Nawaz Sharif’s Moment of Truth
Posted by KHYBER Jun 30, 2008 06:59 pm
How NAWAZ would like to be remembered in the history of Pakistan???Well thats not rocket science, lets face the reallity,he is not an ANGEL but as corrupt as anyother paki politician is.We all know how he made money, how he got to the corriders of power, what he did to supreme court and attacked judges, put lives of over 300 people in danger by hijacking MUSHY BOY airpalbne and not allowing it s landing. You can develop pakistan only by spreading education to each and every children in the country and by brining new generation of politicians, pakistan needs to get rid of these tested politicians and lets also not forget pakistan was declared failed state when he was PM.Mr. Nawaz Sharif is totally bent upon taking revenge from Musharraf at the cost of this country’s stability. He is the only one bragging about the judiciary because he knows he cannot deliver, he can’t cut prices, construct dams or do anything for the common man. He goes to an Indian channel and talks about the setting up of a Kargil Commission. How low can you get? Your soldiers died in that battle while you were in the warmth of the White House. I wonder what Mr. Sharif has to say about the setting up of a commission to probe into the ‘karz utaro mulk sawaro’ funds, the plans of buying hundreds of acres of land up north with Indian companies to extract profits from mineral resources, the attack on Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah etc.? And lets not forget his connections with OSAMA BIN LADDEN,,who paid him millions of ruppes to run elections aginst BENAZIR.Nawaz Sharif’s only agenda was to make money. In order to achieve this goal, he formed/changed laws and policies for his personal benefit and expanded his business empire by misusing his authority as Prime Minister.Nawaz Sharif is widely acknowledged to be a highly incompetent person, with a mediocre I.Q. level. The brain behind him was that of his late “Abba Jee” (‘daddy’) - the mastermind and the main decision maker behind the scene. In order to consolidate and attain more power, N. Sharif attacked every individual and institutions he felt could get in the way challenge his authority. In order to get rid of the then Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, who was despised by Sharif, the later created divisions among the judges to make life difficult for the Chief Justice. A group of judges refused to acknowledge Shah as the Chief Justice and things got so bad that a number of junior judges put hurdles in the way of the Chief Justice in order to make it difficult for him to carry out his duties. Eventually, Sharif ordered his thugs to attack the Supreme Court in order to prevent the Chief Justice from giving a ruling against him. There is probably no institution in Pakistan which Nawaz Sharif did not aggressively confront in order make them comply to his wishes. Besides picking on a fight with the President, the Judiciary and the already restricted/limited media, Sharif also decided to have a confrontation with the army, the only viable institution left in Pakistan. Chief of Army Staff, General Jehangir Karamat, and Nawaz Sharif had a conflict over an issue pertaining to the national security council and both entered into a heated discussion, after which Gen. Karamat had to offer his resignation. Jehangir Karamat thus became the first Chief of Army Staff in the history of Pakistan to have left the army in this prematurely in this manner.Last...he cant stay in jail and was so coward made a deal with MUSHY boy and ran to SAUDI ARABIA,so what kind of leader he is who dont know about sacrifice.

''State of siege ''
6/26/2008
The report that the historic town of Peshawar could fall to militants is obviously terrifying. Worse still, it seems that despite meetings between the chief minister, top military officers stationed in the city and the adviser on interior, no one is ready to defend the city against a possible onslaught by the militant militias that stand ranged all around it. The foray by forces who took away 16 Christians recently from a locality in the heart of the city shows just how vulnerable it is. It is believed that militants, who have scored a series of victories in operations across the northern areas, may just make an attempt to seize Peshawar. The fall of the city, analysts believe, will bring other districts across the NWFP toppling down before militants as well. The resurgence of these forces is evident everywhere. After several weeks of calm, conflict between security troops and the local Taliban has been reported from Swat, where ten people have been killed. Indeed, each day stories come in of new aggression and new acts of brutality by these crazed men who wield automatic weapons and believe that Islam means burning down schools, attacking video shops or beheading people they suspect of collusion with the government.

The extent to which Peshawar, the once peaceful entry point to the northern areas, has changed over the last decade or so is also terrifying. Music, once integral to the culture of the city, has been banned. Folk artistes have been forced into penury, shops selling instruments destroyed. Women on some campuses have been forced into veils; many fear leaving their houses unescorted; schools for girls have been threatened and the relaxed traditions of bazaars where people sipped their tea in the many 'chai houses' dotted across them has given way to one of suspicion and anger.

The threat to Peshawar of course exposes the ineptness of government policy. Under Musharraf's 'enlightened moderation', even as the US declared him a key ally against terror, militancy grew everywhere. The new government has failed, despite some efforts, to do very much about it. Things in the FATA areas appear to be tumbling out of control – and the possibility of Taliban forces driving through Peshawar in trucks now stares us in the face. There is, quite obviously, no time to lose. If militancy is to be defeated, the strategies to do so must be put in place now. There is no space left to fumble or to ponder, and as a first step, a plan to defend Peshawar must be devised immediately before it is too late to prevent the frenzied armies of extremists marching in on the city.

USA is fighting a war on terror and Pakistan is its ally getting dollars and defence equipments for showing Pashtun as terrorists and extremists while Pashtun think that only and onlyPakistani establishment is responsible for the mess and promoting of terrorism in region for nefarious designs.Pashtun do not hold no one responsible except Pakistani rulers.Pakistan is responsible to provide security to cotizens in which she has badly failed is doing nothing and is not more than a spectator to see genocide of Pashtun Nation.Blaming others could not be justified. The dignity of Pashtun has been challanged. Those who sing songs of the patriotsm of Pakistan should ponder over as to what wrong Pashtun have committed and what remedy Pakistani rulers have in their pocket for them,if nothing as indicates then better to tell Pashtun to seek ways for them as future line of action and Pashtun should not be taught psedo-patriotism which is of no work.Pashtun have been kept deprived since its creation and are being treated as the traitors. When Punjabis are active to make Balkanisation of it then why Pashtun are being defamed before the world?Today Pakistan has bombs but having no bread to feed her People and citizens are starved to death and humaliation in 21st century which is a shame for those who are not tired to call themselves as proud Pakistanis but empty abdomens. The Taliban ARE not the creation of Pashtun society, but the creation of the Pakistan army.Pashtuns stand united for peace, but the fire of war is burning our land and we have to find the means to extinguish it. We are caught in the middle of warmongers, extremists and militants. The Pashtun nation is a victim of a conspiracy, and we are not terrorists. … The blood flowing on this border is Pashtun blood, and we will not allow terrorist to use our land.Islamabad has perpetrated a bad policy of wanting to bring Afghanistan under Pakistan’s influence. we should let the Afghans decide their own future.Let’s support peace in Afghanistan, not the insurgency.
The MMA’s defeat was largely a result of their failure to provide good government and deal with corruption; but it was also a clear sign that the majority of Pashtuns do not sympathise even with the mainstream Islamist parties, let alone with the pro-Taleban militants and terrorists, and that they are deeply opposed to the violence and unrest that the militants have unleashed in the Pashtun areas in recent months.
Pakistan is using these poor pukhtoons and innocent people as scapegoats to any regional and international reaction for any kind of terrorism whether it is within the country, regional or on international scale, sponsored by ISI and its sister organizations(ALQUIDA).Before 9/11 Pakistani Government used this land as a launching pad in creation of Taliban movement to capture Afghanistan. All international terrorist organizations were invited to be a part of this movement then world has seen what these mercenaries did to Afghanistan. After 9/11, when United state’s and allies helped Afghan people to get rid of Pakistani militia and push them toward south with international pressure on Pakistan, Pakistani’s ordered tactical retreat by inviting all these criminal’s back into tribal land with the help of ISI paid Mullahs/Clerics and ISI agents.

Re: # 62Lets not live in DENAIL and face the reality,I am not admiring KARZAI but lets call a spade a spade.Pukhtoons are the ones who are suffering because of talibans, these talibans are closing girls schools and music centers in pukhtoonistan not in punjab,do you think these talibans are giving a good name to our religion ISLAM?Peshawar is in a state of siege and lets hope not it falls into talibans hands,it seems like pakistani govt has lost writ and not willing to shoot n kill these talibans and their leaders. If you don't do it then someone else will take care of it,when that someone else will take care they will be marching on your streets. Its the fault of ISI AND CIA who hired and trained these millitants and make em fight against soviets.
If you surrot these millitans then is it in islam to bomb girls schools, ban women decent and normal activities,To me these talibans are not muslim at all,ISLAM is a complete code of life and Islam does not allow what talibans wants to enforce.

Genicide of Pakhtuns
One more time bourgeois and elite of Jinnah’s Pakistan are trying to keep Pakhtuns backward and keep them in the dark, the terrorist attacks by bunch of cowards who hide their faces or hide themselves in Burqa are killing innocent Pakhtuns. We Pakhtuns the Aryan nation, with Greek blood running in our veins and have jewish background are victims of conspiracy against Pakhtuns and it is shame for our Pakhtun so called leaders and ANP that they are silent. We need Bacha Khan and Wali Khan. Paktuns genocide started when former hateful military dictator Zia welcomed Afghan refugees, these refugees were imposed on people of Pakhtunistan, Zia and his masters also welcomed Osama and his cronies and turned Paktunistan into so called Jihad training ground against former Soviet Union, The refugee camps were places to which the Mujahideen could return for rest and to see their families. Now these well trained so called mujahideens and Osama and his company who are hiding in Rat holes, and their agents are attacking schools, music centers, security forces and killing poor and innocent Pakhtuns. Al-Qaeda and the Taliban were not the product of Pakhtuns but have been elevated to the position by others. Talibans were created by ISI, Pakhtuns are peaceful people, Bacha Khan spent decades in jail for demanding the rights of his people but remained non-violent. This proves that Pakhtuns are not involve in these suicide attacks but they are agents of Osama, who are killing Pakhtuns. Pakistani establishment kept our tribal areas backward and never tried to introduce education and did nothing for progress of tribal areas aggressively. Having been a part of invincible Afghanistan for centuries, it is a shame for a ruling and historic nation like Pakhtuns to live in a state that has given nothing to them – not even a name to their region but has looted everything from them except their sense of pride and honor. It is against the psyche of Pakhtuns to buy submission at the cost of freedom and compromise on their honor by not retaliating against any aggression. The people in the tribal belt and Pakhtuns are totally innocent and they have no idea whatsoever about Al-Qaeda which had been based in the past in cities like Rawalpindi due to the ISI headquarters. Thugs of Punjab are talking about ,’’PURHA LIKHA PUNJAB’’, while so called religious extremists are blowing schools in Pakhtunistan under the umbrella of MMA Mullahs regime of Paktunistan, Cruel and hateful dictator Zia had a personal stragedy to prolong his unconstitutional oppressive military rule, he raised Islam’s slogan, welcomed Afghan refugees, got millions of dollars from West for fighting against Soviet union, like every Pakistani ruler, he ignored safety and security of Pakhtuns. Zia is responsible for the start of Pakhtuns genocide. All current day sectarian and militant groups including Mahajir Qaumai Movement (MQM) and top of them all the Al-Qaeda were fabricated in Zia regime by ISI. Terrorism is an Arab reactionary phenomenon. Neither Afghans across the Durand line nor Pakhtuns ever approved of it in the past. Its amazing that present Mush regime can arrest terrorists, if they attack outside Pakhtunistan but can’t arrest anyone if these attacks happen in Pakhtun’s region. The genocide of the Pakhtuns must stop. Pakhtun nationalist parties are ignoring the genocide of Pakhtoons,it seems they don’t care. They are not just interested. If they don't then Pakhtuns will forget about the ANP and do their own things. I don' t deny the services of ANP for Pakhtuns, however now that a war has been imposed upon us in the name of Islam, Leadership of ANP and other progressive groups should wake up and read the writing on the wall. On the other hand corrupt politicians of Pakistan never denounced these suicide attacks, these politicians are struggling and fighting for getting seat of power in Islamabad but are ignoring the sufferings of poor people of Pakhtunistan who are facing suicide attacks and Pakhtuns kids are afraid to go to schools, if these so called militants love Islam that much then why don’t they try to close down HEERA MUNDI of Lahore, ofcourse they will not because mullahs are getting paid from mafia bosses of Lahore Heera Mundi. Terrorist mullahs of LAL MASJID are also responsible for killing innocent Pakhtuns during military raid a few months ago, Pakhtuns student were used as human shield at lal masjid. Suicide attacks are horrific acts of genocide similar in psychotic madness as to what surged through the veins of Hitler. Ze chi pe mayeen yum da agha pukhtunistan de.Tul de ve Pakhtunistan.

Pakistan troops 'aid Taliban'(NEW YORK TIMES)
New classified US documents reveal that mass infiltration of Frontier Corps by Afghan insurgents is helping latest offensive
Peter Beaumont and Mark Townsend The Observer, Sunday June 22, 2008 Article historyThe Pakistani Frontier Corps has been heavily infiltrated and influenced by Taliban militants, sometimes joining in attacks on coalition forces, according to classified US 'after-action' reports compiled following clashes on the border.

According to those familiar with the material, regarded as deeply sensitive by the Pentagon in view of America's fragile relationship with Pakistan, there are 'box loads' of such reports at US bases along the length of the Pakistan-Afghan border. Details of the level of infiltration emerged yesterday on a day when five more US-led soldiers were killed in southern Afghanistan. Four of the soldiers died in a bomb and gunfire attack outside the southern city of Kandahar.

Nato officials have reported a dramatic increase in cross-border incidents compared with the same period last year. The US documents describe the direct involvement of Frontier Corps troops in attacks on the Afghan National Army and coalition forces, and also detail attacks launched so close to Frontier Corps outposts that Pakistani co-operation with the Taliban is assumed.

'The reality,' said a source familiar with the situation on the ground, 'is that there are units so opposed to what the coalition is doing and so friendly to the other side that when the opportunity comes up they will fire on Afghan and coalition troops. And this is not random. It can be exceptionally well co-ordinated.'

Another source - who has seen the reporting - described an attack last year where two Frontier Corps outposts appear to have been directly involved in firing on Afghan forces before a militant attack.

Frontier Corps personnel have in the past been implicated in the past in murdering US and Afghan officers. In the most high-profile case, a Frontier Corps member 'assassinated' Major Larry J Bauguess during a border mediation meeting. In another incident, an Afghan officer was killed. Since then the problem appears to have worsened as the Taliban renew their insurgency on the Afghan side of the border.

'The United States and Nato have substantial information on this problem,' said an American official. 'It's taking place at a variety of places along the border with the Frontier Corps giving direct and indirect assistance. I'm not saying it is everyone. There are some parts that have been quite helpful... but if you have seen the after-action reports of their involvement in attacks along the Afghan border you would appreciate the problem.'

James Appathurai, a Nato spokesman, said: 'The real concern is that the extremists in Pakistan are getting safe havens to rest, recuperate and retool in Pakistan and come across the border. The concerns have been conveyed to the Pakistan authorities.'

Seth Jones, author of the Rand report, which found evidence of collaboration, said the issue had been troubling the US even before the invasion of Afghanistan: 'If you go back a decade to the Clinton administration when the US targeted militant camps, members of the Pakistani intelligence services were killed along with militants.'

The allegation that senior Pakistani officials continue to offer lukewarm assistance to the coalition while offering help to the Taliban is also reiterated in Descent into Chaos, a new book by the veteran Pakistani author Ahmed Rashid.

Relations between the US and Pakistan were strained this month when 11 members of the Frontier Corps were killed when the US allegedly bombed their outpost near the border town of Gora Prai during a gun battle with militants on the border. Pakistani sources have questioned why the troops were hiding in a bunker in the midst of the battle and why they were 'unaware' of an hour-long firefight going on so close by.

The issue of the Taliban's ability to cross and recross the border with Pakistan into that country's Federally Administered Tribal Areas is becoming one of the most contentious issues of the war, with many - including Afghan President Hamid Karzai - insisting that his country is involved in a 'regional conflict' and threatening to send troops across the border.

The death of the five soldiers yesterday came as the Taliban stepped up their offensive. It happened a day after two other US-led soldiers died in separate incidents, including a suicide bombing.

Our wars in our Tribal Areas
Date:Monday, June 23, 2008 5:40:54 PM (FROM DAILY TIMES)

The war in Khyber Agency now parallels the war in Kurram Agency. The first is three years old and the second is two years old in its latest phase. The Khyber war has unfolded right under the nose of the administration in Peshawar; and the Kurram war has proved too much for Islamabad as it spreads to adjacent Aurakzai and Mohmand agencies, coming down to the settled districts of the NWFP like Hangu and Kohat. There is also the greater war between the Taliban and the state of Pakistan over “lost territory”, and then there is the war with Afghanistan where the Tribal Areas of Pakistan provide up to 40 percent of the “cross-border” warriors. Finally, there is the war within the warriors of which the latest example is the sectarian bloodshed in the Khyber Agency.

Two factions that came on the scene in Khyber around 2005 on the basis of their propaganda on their FM radios are now killing each other freely. So far more than 200 warriors from both sides have been done to death with automatic fire and mortars and rockets. The latest battle has killed nearly 30 in one day’s battle, if the figures claimed by both sides are to be accepted. After Bara, the killings spread to Jamrud, where the murders of innocent people are now going to be avenged. The battle has also spread to the most inaccessible but picturesque Tirah and, going by the images being shown on TV, both sides are squared off with equal strength of weaponry and manpower.

The war in Kurram Agency forms a parallel. It is also close-by because one can reach Kurram from Tirah after a few hours’ journey. While the war in Khyber is between two versions of Sunni Islam — Deobandi versus Barelvi — the war in Kurram is between the Shia and the Sunni, the two major sects of Islam. The Kurram war, mostly centred on the headquarters of the agency Parachinar with a majority Shia population, is of longer gestation. In history it was known as the Turi-Mangal tribal war as both tribes embrace different sects. But after the jihad against the Soviet Union in the 1980s, it became an indirectly state-supported mayhem because jihad was Deobandi-dominated.

Hundreds have been claimed in these two internal wars. As in other areas affected by retaliatory attacks from the NATO-ISAF forces, uninvolved populations are moving out of the affected areas and then wandering from pillar to post in search of shelter. Everywhere they go, the Taliban tighten the noose around their necks by enforcing a brand of Islam that the people have not known before. Meanwhile, the state of Pakistan is nowhere to be seen. The people of Parachinar have made heart-rending appeals to the state to come and save their lives but to no effect. The state is clearly in retreat in the face of all this.

When the Barelvi-Deobandi war started in the Khyber Agency in 2005, its repercussions went as far south as Multan and Karachi where the Deobandi madrassas organised wall-chalkings about a war that no one could figure out. Mufti Munir Shakir was fulminating against his Barelvi rival Pir Saifur Rehman. Both were exiled from Khyber but both left behind their followers. The Deobandi Mufti Shakir has now been replaced by warlord Mangal Bagh who is given to raiding Peshawar to fill his coffers and is clearly putting himself up for adoption by Al Qaeda without whose imprimatur no one can enter the business of terrorism in the Tribal Areas. On the other hand, Pir Saifur Rehman has been succeeded by other leaders, including Maulana Mustamin, who have vowed to fight to the end.

The federal government listened to the distant thunder of war on the FM radios and kept quiet, and there are many interpretations placed on this benign neglect, including the involvement of the intelligence agencies in secretly prosecuting the war against Afghanistan’s Karzai government. The MMA government in Peshawar kept out of the mess on two grounds. The first was overt and it was based on the argument that the Tribal Areas were in the charge of the federal government. That indirectly meant that the governor and the corps commander in Peshawar were effectively responsible for control and management in Khyber. The other less overt reason for the Deobandi-dominated MMA’s indifference was the natural Deobandi ascendancy of Lashkar-e Islam of Mangal Bagh, further empowered by the “alliance” between Deobandi Islam and Arab-dominated Al Qaeda.

Those who are busy counting the errors of President Pervez Musharraf these days should include the chaos of the Tribal Areas and its two epochal wars in Khyber and Kurram in their list. But the danger is that these are precisely the issues that will be ignored by his critics. And that will be the source of further trouble for the country. *
