You can send me the references on my personal address swali@ikon.com and I will chase the 1857 event up as I basically am addicted to the India Office. And the story you mentioned seems interesting as I have never heard of it before.

On the other two references, I will look into them and send you some details of whats available. There is so much to go through in the BL and so little time. But it will slowly unravel.

Would it be possible to collect and collect entries from journals, court records, and correspondence [ private & official) about the 1857 events.

I am interested about one particular missive about a woman in green who on horseback killed so many britishers in Delhi, & was captured and without much publicity sent to england. I have the names of the sender & receiver alongwith the text in Urdu. I’ll send those to you.

Is it possible to have access to Newton’s diaries where he has talked about his sources as the scriptures ( which ones I know not, but must have references to pre-rennaissance ones) . they are at the J.M. Keyenes private collection. I’m just curious to know how co-operative are the ’’chowkidars’’

Also: I’ve heard a lot about the Richard Burton collection and access to it is possible. It is unfortunate that most of our totaa-mainaa researchers try to avoid getting into something which supports the mullahs[ I always use it as a good word to ward off the moderate[badword] vultures, hyenas, and crows]

Sorry for the delay, I just read your Ilog, I normally visit the BL atleast once a week for a few hours. If It is a certain text or Material that you are after than let me know and we can discuss. It is definately a treasure trove in the BL as I just discovered some copies of Imroze.
