Overload - Pakistani Music scene in Overdrive

There have been numerous underground bands in Pakistan popping up here and there, some amazing sounds and original albeit genre beats tearing through the veils of the underground music scence and going Mainstream....as mainstream as it gets in Pakistan. Your EPs, Nooris, Jals and the second coming of the Strings Duo has been a sign of a sort of a revival of the Pop/Rockeseque Music Industry. I have been a keen follower, and was in my teens a slight part of the scene as well, but those days are long gone. Since Talash and Sar Kiyay Pahar however I have missed that feeling of listening to a truly genre breaking song, something that tingles your skin when you hear it for the very first time. I had experianced it with Talash and Sar Kiyay Pahar but ever since then just had weak renditions of the same feeling with several of the one hit wonders that have followed. However ladies & gentlemen, it has happened once again.

A new sound has emerged from the underground which is truly genre breaking and a musical equivalent to the emancipation proclamation. Overload and its Dhamal of Dhols and percussions have literally blown me away. It is a unique sound that shows a musical genius which I daresay Pakistan has not witnessed before. The presence of the young and the old with Pappu Saeen being an active member of this ’’group’’ has created something that atleast from my point of view deserves a lot of respect, humility and gobsmacking amazement. It has broken the plateau of Rock and Pop wannabees who sing either girly rock songs or rely on the bhangra pop genre to carry themselves to the masses. Which might be commercially successful, but is musically Shite.

Herein enters Overload and there NEW NEW sound, something you have never heard before. I just want to say that I have become there number one fan after just this preview, I can only wonder what a full on album could do?????
