Has There Been A Book That...

Topic started by Simon_Templar on Jul 27, 2005 8:48:17 pm

...changed your life in any meaningful way ?. Good or bad.
Because I want to read that book this summer. Doesn’t
have to be some classic, hoity-toity book.

Can be anything --as long as it did the trick.

Thank you all, for your wonderful suggestions. They have been most
helpful to me, and I am sure, for many others/lurkers here as well.

well you know what they say about books - you recommend/reread a particular one because it takes you back to a special time in your life.
Now all things being relative - one mans food is another mans poison. So do you really want to know what my recommendations are??

Book : Veronica decides to die
Author: Paulo Coelho

Good for people who are looking for hope when they are feeling suicidal. I went through it some time ago and this book gave hope enough.

Book : Eleven Minutes
Author: Paulo Coelho

Good for people who are looking for validation after being a sex maniac. I went through it some time ago and felt validated. :)

I am a big fan of this writer except I dont like its rosy endings but worth while to read the other aspect of life the books offer. Waiting on for ’’The Zahir’’ by the same author which comes out some time in September.

well the two books that i would love to re-read in the free time are:

The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy

The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde

Arundhati has cut deep. She really spoke about the moments the things that are hardly managed by writers.

The other one by Oscar Wilde is so refreshing with points to ponder and reasons to laugh and cry.

t - um, that’d be the last part of the three part list i.e name of book - author - reason it [the book] struck me. mainly each of ’em taught me something new and thus changed my life. as you [?] said, there’s no such thing as ONE definitive life changing book coz you’re constantly evolving - or you should be. ;)
