raw_dust - i donot follow movies or directors techs taht seriously and would not know Jarmusch from another abc. Hence the reviews.
and have seen In the mood... way back when it came out.
minus the condescending tone you would be fun to interact with :@:@

respect to rahul:
not rashomon yet... watching kurosawa’s movies is major major undertaking so i tend to do it every once in six months... i have only seen seven samurai in which he was playing with the concept of panoramic views which he had shot with amazing depth .. i mean the technology he must have had .. it came off amazingly 3-D... then the tempo of camera moving - mimicking the tempo of a samurai in sword fights... that was something... wese... ran and ikiru are on my list too...

on a sidenote:
bill murray’s character doing whiskey commercials to make some easy money was a reference to kurosawa... supposedly kurosawa at one point had it really bad and had to shoot whiskey commercials (in which he appeared too) to raise some cash to fund his movies...

cheers guys.... !

ixno:
i missed earlier that infact you mentioned ’’2046’’ too in #13. i suggest atleast watch kar-wai’s ’’in the mood for love’’ first. you will be able to experience the full intensity.

2046 is to 2000’s what Breathless was to 60s. or Last Tango in Paris was to 70s. enuff said.

Didnt know this is still on.

Ixno, I didnt see much Japanese influence even in Japan. Most women carry that Jennifer ’Rachel’ Aniston hairstyle and wear out-n-out western attire.

Amritababes, Japan is good. Japanese are good. Tokyo is too good. I couldnt move out of Tokyo but I can assure you there are some amazing places to see and enjoy.

But if your wish is to be serenaded by some Japanese men then you’d be sorely dissappointed. For all their technology and modernity, most guys are too polite and shy, and kind of introvert too, to make lively conversation. It’s women’s rule in Japanese households.

CheGuevara,

Joint pass kar yaar.

amrita - it sure seems like pulling teeth sometimes. Any good movies??
raw_dust - i read teh review today - the word ’’bittersweet’’ alerted me to maybe not watch this. I cant stand bittersweetness !!

Has anyone seen Infernal Affairs??
And 2046?

ixie, its the Curse of Ixno... you can ask but never recieve a reply:))

but since i’m so nice i’ll tell you that i think it depends on where you are in your far east phase. i’m just beginning to get over my japan fix [although not completely till i go there myself and see it for myself :@] so i can segue into the s korea fix. and their movies are cool. thou spake truly at that.
