A ’Chick Flick’ That Men Will Flip Over.

I watched a wonderfully amazing movie tonight, again. Jet lag is a
light romantic comedy, but it is oh-so-much-more. The movie stars
the exquisitely beautiful Juliette Binoche playing Rose, a beautician
on the run from an abusive releationship. The character of Felix, a
retired chef and entrepreneur on the outs with his girlfriend, is
played by the legendary French actor Jean Reno.

Through a series of mishaps and coincidences, Felix and Rose
bump into each other at the Paris airport, each headed someplace
else with considerable baggage, and not the kind you check-in
at the counter. Within a span of a few hours these two characters,
together, come to terms with who they really are, how they have
lived their lives and where do they wish to go from here.

This is a mechanical explanation of a script, acting and situation
which are nothing short of magic. Juliette Binoche holds your heart
in the palm of her hand the whole time. Her character drags you
on a roller-coaster ride through sorrow, despair, giddyness, joy,
sensuality and ultimately resolution. Jean Reno does more than
justice to his role, playing the hypochondriac chef. The chemistry
between him and Binoche is palpable and both compliment each
other perfectly.

I loved this movie because of how the script and director allowed
these wonderful actors to explore the wide range of human
emotions; from the most delicate and sensitive, to the bold and
crass... with humour, a certain maturity and dignity. You don’t find
this attention-to-detail in 99% of the crap turned out by HW today.

Now, I must have the DVD first thing Monday. Wish me well.

I am sorry, imdb.com is not co-operating with hot-linking of the pics.
Here are a few vidcaps from the movie, my treat. :)

#1 The character of Simon Templar is that of a man of mystery and
adventure, bai. You must expect the unexpected.
