Kill Bill

Topic started by Shazana on Sep 6, 2005 2:36:19 am

Finally got round to watching this - yes I’m lagging way behind!

Must say the screenplay was beautifully co-ordinated; like a jigsaw where each piece just falls into place.
The storyline I felt was alittle far fetched and much too much blood and gore for me. But on the whole must say it’s well worth watching.

Hey, can’t go without dedicating some space to the sound track - this again was skilfully set against the action. Actually the more I talk about it the more I’m feeling the urge to put my DVD back in the player and watch it once’s more?!

kill bill was good. i had fun. it’d be better if he had cut it into a 3 hour long movie instead of two separate ones.

#8 Jerry always makes me smile. :)

Proportion. That’s another reason why this movie turned me off. Uma was
wronged by a handful of people. Instead of targeted killing, she goes on a
killing spree, killing the population of a small town. It reminded me of Bush
and how his cabal have gone on to kill quarter of a million people, for the
crime of a few dozen.

Maybe, it’s cuz Uma is a woman and I don’t want to see the fairer sex stoop
down to the level of a driven mercenary ?.

This reminds me of a quote by Seinfeld, of all people.:))
JERRY: People like the idea of revenge. Have you ever heard the expression ’The best revenge is living well’ I’ve said this, in other words it means supposedly the best way to get back at someone is just by being happy and successful in your own life. Sounds nice, doesn’t really work on that Charles Bronson. kinda level. You know what I mean, those movies where his whole family gets wiped out by some street scum. You think you could go up to him, ’Charlie forgot about the 357 what you need is a custom-made suit and a convertible. New carpeting, french doors, a divan. That’ll show those punks.’

um, no bill didnt think she was dead and he was keeping a pretty close watch on her. plus, she wasnt trying to kill bill for her ego - she was a mom getting revenge for her [as she thought] slain baby. and at the end its pretty obvious that he isnt going to let her be and like, most moms, she didnt want her kid brought up by a guy like bill.

as for revenge and vengeance and their validity, thats a whole another story.

For a long time I did not know why I had such a negative visceral reaction
to this movie. It had slick cinematography, an eclectic director and a babe
(Uma Thurman) to top it all.

Just now, I had an epiphany. It is the plot that turned me off: Revenge.
I have had enough Psychology in college to know how pointless and self-
defeating this particular emotion can be.

If Uma was fighting for a higher purpose than her ego (remember, she was
in no imminent threat from Bill, who thought she was dead already), for
some principle...I would’ve cheered her on. The film reminded me of the
old Sultan Rahi, Mustafa Qureshi ’’Maula Jatt’’ gore-fests. Bleech.

I enjoyed Pulp Fiction though.

#1 I understand where you’re coming from and that’s the reason I really enjoyed this film.
Wouldn’t you agree it was ’pasted’ together seamlessly.

I liked the movie but all in all was a cut and paste job. Even the music.
