Life Without Principle - Henry David Thoreau.

People who have yet to make the major life & career choices will get the
most benefit out of this book. The rest will probably only get a heartburn.

Perhaps, I enjoyed this book because it re-affirmed my deeply felt and
held suspicions about the real nature of human condition, which haven’t
had much support in mainstream thought.

if you like nonfiction you might like Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. Another couple I’m planning to get soon is the book on the history of salt [ kinda sorta new bestseller with some great reviews, apparently its absolutely riveting] and the brand new Alan Alda memoir

I just finished Shashi Tharoor’s The Great Indian Novel. It’s awesome. A grand undertaking by Tharoor and he executes it quite well. Tell you it was tough to resist the temptation of re-reading it as soon as I finished.

i was going to recommend that you go to the what are you reading threads, because those are usually some that we would recommend, but here’s a brief list:

in custody -- anita desai
the known world -- edward p. jones
white teeth -- zadie smith (don’t listen to this novel’s detractors here at chowk. well listen, but politely ignore them!)
sister of my heart -- chitra banerjee divakaruni

that’s all i can think of for now while i’m munching on dinner.

oh and feel free to politely ignore this as well! :))
