Have You Ever . . .

Topic started by Simon_Templar on Oct 2, 2005 3:12:31 pm

Walked out of a theatre, just ’cuz the dang movie was so bad,
that you remembered to --organize your sock drawer, or clean
the lint guard in your washing machine ?.

I have walked out in disgust, twice. Once, in the middle of The
Bible Code and the second time, twenty minutes into Bats. They
were not the worst movies I’d seen, but def the most asinine.

Come on, I’m sure, yall must’ve had one such experience.
Or almost did ?. :)

#4 Everybody seems to have watched Troy, but moi. I can’t help it. Every
time Brat Pitt comes on the screen, I have to lunge for the remote, like a
cheetah, and change the channel. :)

#5 I LOVED THAT Gwyneth MOVIE< /a>!. HAW HAI. She looked so cute in her
teal uniform. *sigh*

#6 Yeah, that would do it. Can you imagine they made movies (and still
do) where rape (forced relations) leads to romance between the lead
characters ?. How many times have you seen in old movies, where she
will slap him, holler abuse, but he ’takes her’ anyway, and then later they
show her looking doe-eyed at him in bed.

Today, you have women like Ashwarya Rai in recent movies mouthing
songs like:

Yea uska style hoinga!...oper se na, dil mein haan hoinga!

Talk about giving mixed signals.

erendira is a character created by gabriel garcia-marquez either in one hundred years of solitude, or a short story, i cannot recall. anyway it was converted into a movie in the 80’s.

i cannot handle sitting in the very front row of theatres as it is. but the scene where i decided we had to leave was when erendira was raped. just that image of her body being violated with a map superimposed was too much for me and that close. . . .

i havent ever walked out as such although i wished i had when watching some national lampoon flick and once more during 40 days and 40 nights but i have switched theatres :| - once during that gwyneth palrow movie where she’s that small town girl who wants to be a airhostess - we sneaked into something else but i cant remember what. then we got to the theatres late for a show of the matrix and only found seats up front and sitting that close to the screen makes me throw up so we sneaked out and went very early into the next show - and then waited anxiously to see whether everyone had seats :|

Yea tu scene-part kar diya aap ne!. Now you have to tell us a lil about this
Garcia-scene. Does it involve gore, nudity, tall buildings or running rhinos ?.

When I was in grade school, about a Doz of us went to see the John Wayne
movie Hatari. It was sold-out, but they put wooden benches right next to
the screen for us. So the movie starts and all I saw for 2 hours were hoofs
and paws...moving across the bottom of the screen, really fast and sending
dirt all over the place. And yeah, that’s the last time I sat up-front.

Oh and btw, if you get a movie at a Cineplex and it starts off really lame,
have you ever switched theatres ?.
I have. I think I walked out of Bats and
sneaked into Nutty Professor-II and half-way through it, I was wishing I
hadn’t left Bats.

my ex-boyfriend and i walked out of ’’erendira’’ (based on the story by garcia-marquez which i saw again years later), not because it was bad, but we were sitting right in the very front of a somewhat cramped theater, and when that one scene came on (those who have seen it might know what i’m talking about), i had decided that i could not watch any further.

i don’t think i did any organizing or cleaning though following that walk-out. :))
