In The Line of Fire - Pervaiz Musharaff

Topic started by Minhaj on Sep 28, 2006 8:10:33 am

I like biographies and I saw Musharaff’s In The Line of Fire just last night at the book store. I flipped through the book. The most interesting paragraphs that I ran into were the ones on how the Prime Minister was appointed. Pervaiz threw a dinner party for Mr. Shaukat Aziz. And then at the dinner Pervaiz surprised Mr. Shaukat by saying that Shaukat was now going to be the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Everyone present clapped. Isnt that great! You walk into a party and someone tells you, ’’Guess what? You are the Prime Minister!’’ Vu-hooooo. Partaay.’’ I think General Pervaiz should have waited for Mr. Shaukat’s birthday to do this. It would have been even more exciting. Pakistan and the future of 150 million humans aside, Pervaiz Musharraf sounds like a nice fun guy. He has even started the first water sports club for the army. We really need more of these type of things.

Lol at Minhaj’s original post!

Musharrif realises that curiosity about Islam and Pakistan are at a high and like a cunning business man (which he is), decided to write a memoir about himself. If that isn’t egotistical (or a bad attempt at flouting vanity), I don’t know what is. Like Hamid Karzai in neighbouring Afghanistan, Musharrif revels in his public image and the book is more proof of it.

given catchy’s#4.. this seems like a book by a schizophrenic .. i can think of another schizo personality who tried his bit in writing but err..

on the other hand, using a schizo narrator could be a mindblowing thing like in gravity’s rainbow but that’s good fiction

The book is worth of it’s price. (Rs. 1,295)

It also says that Pakistan has recognised the existence of Jewish stae - quite contrary to official stance.

The book is full of surprises, facts and off-course stupidities.;)

well i have not read the book yet, but this fellow is quite shrewd, his interview at the daily show was quite on the dot, esp. his concluding comments that both Bush and Osama would be total loosers if stood in elections. I thought he defended himself quite well, was truthful about his thoughts , and was super confident .

haha

initially i was loathe to have anything to do with the book by that filthy animal.

but if it’s loaded with jokes like shaukat aziz, the pagesmay be worth the laugh for the jokes they are.
