Asma Shirazi - War Correspondant & TV Anchor

In her account of interviewing Bal Thackeray at Fankar Gali in the weekly TFT, Thackeray upon entering the room extended his hand. Asma shook it without hesitation.

Obviously, Bal Thackeray intended to unsettle a Pakistani interviewer in a Hijab by putting her in an awkward position. As it happened, Asma unsettled HIM!

Zee sahib, (Actually this is an amazing lady!) Read a couplet somewhere forgetting the exact Urdu words meaning "The glimpse of a bare ankle of a virtuous woman is more alluring than a nude w****" or something of that sort. ('enlightened moderation' media policy of the time) Is the policy still enlightened and moderate? Regards flag objectionable content

Post by majumdar Actually this is an amazing lady! She started with PTV as an anchor but due to the 'enlightened moderation' media policy of the time, she was asked to doff her Hijab. She refused and resigned. She was the only Pakistani female correspondent in both the Lebanon and the Waziristan wars. A veritable Christian Ammanpour - in a Hijab. Of-course doesn't look like a horse either as does the other illustrious lady mentioned above flag objectionable content
