Oye Hinjuice!

Topic started by shobig_sifar on May 8, 2008 10:36:17 pm

Two things:

1) What's the frequency of (scheduled) power shutdowns (if any) in the metropolitan cities of Hinja, Deli, KaalKutta, Boom-bai etc.?

2) I see TATA has recently bought Jaguar and Range Rover...has anybody ever driven a thoroughly local breed of car, TATA, Mahindra etc.? How different is the drive and overall engineering quality from, say, the Korean or Japanese brands? Coz I really feel for Jaguar...

Be honest for once in your life, would ya?

Kolkata still has power cuts. they call in India "load shedding". Recently there was a news item saying that the Governor of West Bengal ordered voluntary power off at Raj Bhawan in Kolkata to express sympathy with suffering Kolkatans upon which Jyoti Basu (former CM of WB) was irritated and protested.

If Bengalis have their way there would not be any computers because they are anti-labour, any ingraazi libraries because Robindro said all there is to say about anything and everything, there would be only Bengali medium instruction even in Physics because S. N. Bose said all there is to say about physics, etc etc.

Bengalis want to separate from India but know that their economy would not last even one day. If West Bengal (and Manipur and all the Bong majority states which want to join them) were to separate tomorrow and they have a Bong Taka currency with 1 Bong Taka equal to Indian Rupee then within a decade it will become not even 2 paisa worth. And all the Bong directors, principals and professors for National Institute of this and National Institute of that will be kicked out and there will be humanitarian crisis.

Only Bangaali Mithai shops will remain in India. And Bengali widows in Benaras.

My 2 paisa.

Sho,

Kolkata and Mumbai have practically no power cuts. Delhi has about 2-3 hours disruption maybe but that should be over in another 2-3 years time. By the way power situation in other parts of the country, particularly the cow belt is appalling.

Regards

i am in moombai right now...A/Cs are blazing, no power-cut or breakdown....Reliance Power, Tata Power are the main supplier/operators in think...

the driver seems to drive india or honda or octavia or 320d equaly well (T)

qualis is a khatara-car IMO...mahindra is a nicer car. qualis wheel-base is too low for comfort in bad roads.

in moombai, a lot of road surface is now using some kinda cobble-stones ... the claim is they dont get damaged in rains, but there are man-mande dug holes everywhere :@

i visited one train station and found the foot-bridge and underground tunnel in good repair and done in pink granite *-)

i think there are power-cuts out side moombai

Shobig, the technology's going to remain the same even if the manufacturing is shifted to India..I don't see any problem there. Maruti/Hyundai etc are being manufactured in India for a long time, there haven't been any issues (T)

Ranjit, obsessed with Hinja? God forbid, I'd rather obsess over yesterday's Myanmar. It's just for some comparative analysis you see ;)

Harish, nothing's conspicuous right now, but I am sure they are going to shift the manufacturing units in Hinja, and that means an instant surge in vocational opportunities for the labour community...

btw, to tell you the truch this Mahendra Bolero thingy looks rather cool 8-|

scheduled in kolkata? none any more, but there are frequent breakdowns, at least once a week :@
it's a 10000 year old grid, but the cpm probably thinks electricity is a bourgeois luxury8-|
not driven either of those, because I don't drive in india any more. have driven ambassadors, and they are difficult to manoeuvre.
my brother drives an indica, and he thinks it's comparable with the maruti. i like the Qualis too, have travelled a lot in it(T)

Don't know much about these cities, but this entire summer, we've had powercuts only twice in Hyderabad.

As for TATA and Mahindra cars, they are just average vehicles. But do you think they'll use TATA engines for the Jaguars and Landrovers? *-)

For the last two weeks we see power cuts between 8:30 PM to 10 PM in the area I live...They say the reason is due to a grid problem.

Other areas of Banggalore, I believe is relatively problem free. I dont see my company switching on the generator frequently.

I alternate between my hamlet in Tamilnadu and Karnataka's Bangalore. I haven't seen frequent shut downs in Bangalore. For the last two weeks we see power cuts between 8:30 PM to 10 PM. My hamlet's supply looks reasonably ok. At around 9 PM they switch off everyday and the power supply resumes at 9.10 PM.

What I have heard is North Indians cities are going through lengthy power cuts.

I have driven a TATA Indica and its quite comparable to anyother diesel car.

Wesay power failure conditions throughout Pakistan has worsened to a disaster akin situation.
Living in Capital territory we suffer 3.5 hrs absence daily, that is quite unbearable in such weather. Other parts of state has very unimaginative power failures. Light comes for an hour and then its dark for two hours. The UPS batteries are not charged to meet the requirements.
Now the UPS prices are hiking exponentially. The booking prices are doubled when the thing is delivered. Car Batteries are becoming short and its too load on finances to get an expensive diesel generator and get it filled like a tank everyday.
People from Karachi to Peshawar are suffering and all small, medium industries and small business that require electricity at top priority have fallen on grounds, making people unemployed, out of money and frustrated.
There are delays in every task due to power crisis and people are just busy adjusting this havoc in their poor lives...
