Appreciating the emerging funny folks (atif and ashtray)

Topic started by hurricane on May 9, 2008 11:00:32 am

Note: this thread is just about humor. Not religion, not politics, etc.

Although I would like to say that my wonderful hindu friends are funny ...I must sadly state that they are occasionally funny, with Kaal bhai being the sole exception, who is immensely funny all the time ;).

So, the new emerging funny folks are:

Atif urf Teefa
ashtray

Although Atif has been around for a while, and although I don't agree with a lot of what he says, I must give props where they are due. The man has become increasingly funny. Subversively so.

First, before any of you call him any names, he robs you of your power by calling himself a "fuking loser" on his own intro page.

Then you make fun of him and goats and camels, and he posts threads titled "beauty" with camel photos. This has to be the boldest statement I have seen. Brilliant.

But apart from this subversive stuff, the real funny stuff is when he comments on all things indian. He is perfecting the art of barbed social commentary :)

Then there is Ashtray. Is he a reincarnation of an older nick? Is he a lurker that decided to join the battlefield? Whatever the case, Ashtray is a welcome voice when he is dispensing logic and rationale to the debate, but a treat to read when he lets loose his own brand of humor on our gentle hapless indian friends. If india and pakistan were to fight a war on chowk, using humor as a weapon, Salim, Atif, Ashtray, Ali, and Hamza would be enough to win the war while the rest of us pakis could sit in the pavilion and enjoy the spectacle.

Note again, the humility of this laughing warrior..."ashtray". He has already said to you: "you gonna call me names paisan? Well I'm gonna call myself names and then you'll have nothing left but increasing fear and nervous bladders."

We argue and bicker a lot...but in the midst of all of that, let's not lose track of the emerging (nay skyrocketing) humorous talent of two of our finest (T)

Thanks for reading...now resume your fights.

{"As your unauthorized biographer I ask "were the jokes worth it?""}

Harry Pi,
You can be my authorized biologist. (T)
As for your question concerning all the enemies, "were the jokes worth it?" Of course, my payee. If Jesus could die on the cross for the love of mankind, why can't I take a few enemas for the sake of making manking and womankind laugh? :(W)

Oh comedic prophet of ours, we cannot let you leave so easily :).

But on a serious note, you know that your humor gets you all sorts of enemies don't you? Humor = intelligence, and when people can't comeback with equally funny retorts, they feel rightfully stupid, and you earn a new enemy with every joke.

As your unauthorized biographer I ask "were the jokes worth it?"

Harry Pi,
Very thoughtful of you to recognize Teefay and Ashtray, the brilliant stars of comedy who truly make, to borrow a cup of luminance from the neighbors, "Pakistan Shining" a reality. :D:D

For a few years, one of my greatest fears was dying prematurely and leaving a vacuum and a tragic desert in the grim and cheerless universe of Chowk. But, now, I am no longer afraid. I have climbed the mountain top and mine eyes have seen the magic of the Lord. He hath created many many more momins of merriment. When I see Teefay, Ashtray, Hamza, Harry Pi, Cool Bhayya, and Krbhatti, and Wolfie, I see a sea of hansee to ridicule, entertain, and amuse the barrel of monkeys called India. (T)

Thank you very much. :(W)

subroto

dang. Tough day ahead of you.

We should get chowk rehab (T).

Nahin yaar, every once in a while arjun says something really hilarious and I laugh and even tell him so...but in general, choosta, arjun, stuka are just merely obscene, and not humorous.

[I enjoyed a post by arjun that described mullahs going all tharkee talking about the hoors in heaven. ]

harry yaar while i agree that atif can write very well and has a talent for observation i don't think its humour that you appreciate. See unfortunately some people get polarised with the cross border firing of blanks. The only reason you find them funny is the barbs fired at injuns. Now had it been any other topic that they wrote about i dont think you would have even glanced at it (and missed out on true humour).
And now excuse me as I should be waking up in a couple of hours by now.
