Saima Shah

Saima Shah has a passionate interest in technology, society, the firm, economics and its social ramifications gained from her academic background and professional experience provides the impetus for her current column on Chowk. 'Quite practically, business ethics aren’t quaint platitudes but serious plans for the survival of the world.'

Unsatisfied with one explanation, one discipline or one way, she will bring a fresh perspective to readers at Chowk about the world in the flux of globalization.

She thinks that the political scientist, the economist, the sociologist, the anthropologist, the woman on the ground, the media analyst, the technologist, the foreigner and the local are parts of the whole story. “Writing in the Internet age must be holistic, because it is so possible.”

Saima has written in The Friday Times, Outlook, The Hindu, Mid-day, the Maharashtra Herald and Chowk. But, she has a special bond with Chowk, “Involvement with Chowk back in 1997 ensured that I didn’t remain a closet writer.”

Saima Shah is a graduate of IBA, Karachi, Pakistan and Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada
